In my last blog post, I shared the details of my 14-Day Glow Up — a reset I did when I wasn’t feeling my best. I also talked about what I ate during the program. These things made such a big impact on my energy, digestion, and overall mood. I focused a lot on movement, consistency, and of course, the nutrition side of things. But what I underestimated were all the other little habits that helped me feel good again.
I’ve learned that it’s often these small, almost unseen things that truly help us come back to ourselves. And it’s not just me saying that — there’s science behind it. According to the Journal of Positive Psychology, making tiny daily adjustments can lead to a 25% increase in long-term happiness and confidence. That’s huge!
As you know, I don't believe in quick fixes when it comes to food and exercises, but when it comes to confidence, sometimes you need a boost RIGHT NOW. So in today’s post, I’m sharing five boosters that helped me reconnect, reset, and start showing up more like me, instantly.
1. Morning Walks & the First Few Minutes of Your Day
One of the first things I changed during my glow-up reset was how I started my mornings. I’d gotten into the habit of waking up and instantly checking my phone — emails, notifications, messages. And without even realizing it, I’d start my day feeling behind.
So I shifted. I got up and immediately went outside for a walk and got sunlight on my face. No podcast. No scrolling. Just fresh air and quiet.
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee — a general practitioner and leading voice in lifestyle medicine — talks a lot about how the first few minutes of your day can set the tone for your entire nervous system. His research and experience show that morning stress (like reaching for your phone) triggers a cortisol spike that can impact your mood, focus, and even digestion for hours. But starting with something calming — like light, movement, or silence — can actually rewire your stress response over time.
I’ve felt that difference firsthand. When I follow this advice, everything flows better. My digestion, my mood, my workouts — it all clicks into place more easily.
Try this for one week: no phone for the first 10 minutes. Step outside, stretch, or walk around the block. Notice what shifts in your body and mind.
2. Getting Ready... Even If You’re Staying Home
This one might sound a little superficial, but hear me out. There’s a real shift that happens when you get ready for the day — even if you’re not leaving the house. Whether it’s putting on a matching set, styling your hair, or just choosing something intentional over the same old sweats, it signals to your brain that today matters.
There’s science behind this too. Researchers have studied a concept called enclothed cognition — the idea that what you wear can directly influence your mindset, confidence, and even performance. When you put on something that makes you feel strong, put-together, or simply yourself, you’re more likely to show up that way.
I really noticed this during my 2-week glow-up. On days when I stayed in pajamas or oversized hoodies, my energy felt off. But when I put in even a little effort — like a cute set, tinted moisturizer, or brushing my hair — everything from my focus to my posture improved. It wasn’t about dressing up. It was about showing up.
Try choosing your outfit the night before, even if your only plans are to work from home. It takes the pressure off in the morning and sets a different tone for the day ahead.
3. The “Everything” Shower
There’s self-care, and then there’s the everything shower. You know the one — shampoo, deep condition, full-body exfoliation, shaving, oils, hair mask, face mask... maybe even music and candles. It’s more than hygiene. It’s a ritual.
I started doing this every Sunday during my reset — and now it’s something I really look forward to. It feels like I’m washing off the week and stepping into a fresh version of myself. It’s a full reset not just for your body, but for your nervous system. The steam, the scents, the intention behind it — it all signals to your brain that you’re safe, calm, and cared for.
And that’s where confidence begins — not from achieving something big, but from knowing you’re taking care of yourself on the most basic level.
I noticed I sleep better on “everything shower” nights too. My skin glows more. And weirdly, I get more compliments the next day — probably because of the way I carry myself, not just how I look.
If Sunday doesn’t work for you, try building a version of this midweek. Even just an extra 10 minutes in the shower with music and a body oil can shift your energy.
4. A Fresh Glow (Spray Tan & Nails)
I’ve always said this: feeling good in your body isn’t about changing your body — it’s about coming back to it. And sometimes, the fastest way to reconnect is through small beauty rituals.
During the glow-up, I got a light spray tan and booked a nail appointment — and it instantly boosted my mood. My skin looked even and fresh, and my hands looked polished even when I wasn’t trying.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to feel a little more glowy. These small acts can be a powerful form of self-respect — not because you need to look a certain way, but because you’re treating yourself like someone worth showing up for.
Simple grooming habits (like painting your nails or even applying a face mask) can actually reduce cortisol and improve your perception of self-image — regardless of the results.
5. Taking Supplements (And Sticking to Them)
This was something I had really fallen off of before my glow-up. I’d been traveling, eating out more, skipping my normal routines — and I could feel it.
So I went back to basics. For me, that meant magnesium (for stress and sleep), omega-3s (for brain and hormone health), collagen (for skin and joints), and probiotics (for digestion). Within a few days, I felt more balanced, my digestion improved, and my energy came back.
Supplements aren’t magic — but when used intentionally, they support your body in the background so you can show up more fully.
Keep your supplements somewhere visible. I put mine next to my matcha mug, so they’re part of my morning flow instead of something I forget by midday.
Final Thoughts
This glow-up wasn’t about perfection — it was about presence. Returning to myself after feeling off. And the biggest lesson is that it’s not just the workouts and clean meals that matter. It’s the little, non-negotiable ways we care for ourselves that build true confidence over time.
When we make space for those rituals — the matching set, the quiet walk, the evening oil on your legs — we’re saying to ourselves: I’m worth the effort. And that feeling lingers long after the spray tan fades or the nail polish chips.
If you’re feeling a little off lately, try picking one or two of these. Make them yours. Let them be gentle reminders that confidence doesn’t come from chasing a goal — it comes from remembering who you are.
Let me know if you try any of these tips — I’d love to see your rituals.
